Arson suspected in Abbotsford fire

ABBOTSFORD — Police in Abbotsford are dealing with a suspected arson. The fire was reported early Saturday morning at Clearbrook Village at 3030 Trethewey Street.

In a news release, the Abbotsford Police Department says the home was occupied when emergency crews arrived on the scene. Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service and Abbotsford Police Patrol Members managed to assist with the evacuation of everyone in the building and no occupants were injured.

The Major Crimes unit of the Abbotsford Police Department is leading the investigation. Although in the early stages of the investigation, the fire is being treated as a targeted incident.

Investigators are asking the public to come forward with any information they may have about the incident, including any dashcam video or surveillance video taken in the area of Trethewey Street and Maclure Road between Gladwin Road and Clearbrook Road around 1 a.m. Saturday morning.
