Additional community feedback sought on proposed Chilliwack-area motocross facility
CHILLIWACK – The promoter behind a proposed Chilliwack-area motocross facility says a local First Nation has requested additional community feedback before the development concept moves forward, and respects the process involved.
Moto Energy provided an update on the development proposal earlier this week, saying it respects the process and appreciates the time being taken to ensure all voices are heard before the project advances.
Moto Energy announced in September that it had decided to shift from a previously-envisioned location at the former Bridal Falls driving range/golf facility over to a new location on Cheam First Nation lands. The new site on First Nation land offers nearly twice the land compared to the golf facility.
“We were hoping to have a final decision this week regarding the proposed Moto Energy motocross facility, but Chief and Council at Cheam First Nation have requested additional community feedback before moving forward,” Moto Energy wrote on Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 9:31 a.m. “We’ve seen encouraging support from many people who believe in creating a safe, family-friendly place for riders, youth, and the broader community. We also understand that some community members have concerns, and those perspectives deserve to be heard as well. We’re grateful for the opportunity to present our vision and remain optimistic about what this facility could mean for the future of motorsports, recreation, and community engagement. Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far.”
