Police allege motorist was confused before colliding with train at Chilliwack rail crossing
CHILLIWACK – Police in Chilliwack say no injuries were reported after a man driving his vehicle became confused and failed to stop at a Chilliwack rail crossing before colliding with a train this past week.
According to her weekly recap for Sept. 28-Oct. 4, Chilliwack RCMP spokesperson Corporal Carmen Kiener says officers responded to a collision involving a train and a vehicle at the Lickman Road railway crossing. She says the driver reported no injuries, and the vehicle sustained damage making it inoperable.
Cpl. Kiener says the train conductor told police the vehicle failed to stop before entering the crossing. The driver confirmed he had become confused and did not stop at the railway intersection.
Police say a violation ticket was issued to the driver for failing to stop at a railway crossing, and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
