ABBOTSFORD — A man is now facing charges after investigators with the Abbotsford Police Department identified him in relation to two residential break-and-enters in the city last month.

AbbyPD says on September 3, patrol officers responded to reports of an unknown suspect forcing himself into an occupied home in the 1700 block of Bradner Road and stealing “several” valuable items before leaving the area.

Police were then paged out to another break-in 11 days later, roughly two kilometres away from the first incident, at a residence in the 27900 block of Montesina Avenue.

A number of valuable items were also stolen from the property.

The next day, on September 15, members of the Crime Reduction Unit identified a suspect and executed a search warrant at a home in the 27200 block of Fraser Highway, where they arrested one suspect without incident. Officers also recovered items stolen from the break-ins.

“Residential break and enters are particularly troubling because they violate a person’s sense of safety and security in their own home,” said Sergeant Hanninen of the AbbyPD CRU. “Our investigators worked diligently to identify the individual responsible, gather the necessary evidence, and bring this investigation before the courts.”

Bryan Barker, 48, has been charged with two counts of break and enter and one count of disguise with intent as a result.

“This arrest and the recovery of stolen property demonstrate the effectiveness of targeted enforcement and collaborative investigative work in holding repeat offenders accountable and protecting our community.”
