The regional district says it wants residents to rely on information shared through channels.

“We understand that repeated incidents can be unsettling, particularly for residents directly affected, and after the Brunswick Complex Wildfire this summer. FVRD’s priority remains the safety and well-being of residents, responders, and everyone in the community,” FVRD said.

The Hope Fire Department released a statement on social media Tuesday (Sept. 22) saying it responded overnight with a single engine and crew after being asked to render mutual aid to Boston Bar Fire with a “significant fire event.”

What started as a reported structure fire grew into multiple fire scenes, including structural, interface, and a separate fire involving rail‑tie materials.

“Crews operated for more than ten hours to contain and extinguish all involved areas,” Hope Fire Dept. said.

Upper Fraser Valley RCMP spokesperson Carmen Kiener said on Tuesday that Boston Bar RCMP officers attended the incident and the investigation into the fires is ongoing at this time.

The regional district confirmed to Fraser Valley Today that 16 firefighters attended the fires in Boston Bar, including five from Boston Bar Fire Department, seven from Yale Fire Department, and four from Hope Fire Department

The regional district said residents can help by reporting smoke or fire immediately by calling 9-1-1. It said preparedness at home may include ensuring smoke alarms are working, keeping combustible materials away from homes and outbuildings, and using heating or electrical equipment safely.

If smoke from the contained railroad ties is a concern, the regional district wants residents to call HealthLink BC at 8-1-1 for non-emergency health advice related to smoke exposure.
