CHILLIWACK — Gardeners looking to keep colour in their outdoor spaces through the colder months will have a chance to hear from Brian Minter at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre on September 24.

The horticulturist is the featured speaker for Art of Science: Seasonal Gardening: Fall & Winter Colour, an event focused on keeping gardens vibrant, healthy and beautiful after summer fades.

The morning session will explore perennials, shrubs and seasonal plants that add colour and texture to fall and winter landscapes. Minter will share practical knowledge and creative ideas for selecting plants that thrive as temperatures drop, including ways to create winter container gardens in pots or raised beds.

“This Art of Science event is about discussing the beauty of so many unique cool season plants, and how easy it is to create winter colour in baskets and containers,” Minter said. “Late fall, winter and early spring can be some of the most beautiful times in our gardens, if we learn the secrets of ‘winter scaping’.”
