Federal government invests $105K into climate risk planning in Chilliwack
CHILLIWACK — The City of Chilliwack is getting some help from the federal government as it tries to prepare for a changing climate in the long run.
A total of $34.2 million is being invested into 141 new climate resilience projects in Canada, including $105,000 towards climate risk assessment and a climate adaptation plan in Chilliwack.
“Canadian municipalities are tackling climate change head-on—working every day to keep residents safe, protect vital infrastructure, and build communities that can adapt to whatever comes next,” said Tim Tierney, president of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.
“This investment empowers communities in every region of the country to turn that commitment into action.”
