Traffic delays expected as Abbotsford Airshow kicks off this weekend

ABBOTSFORD — The B.C. Ministry of Transportation and Transit is advising drivers of upcoming congestion on Highway 1 as the Abbotsford Airshow kicks off in the Fraser Valley.

“The event is expected to draw large crowds of spectators, increasing traffic around the Abbotsford International Airport and surrounding areas,” said the Ministry.

The event is set to run from Friday, August 7, to Sunday, August 9, which may lead to “higher than normal” traffic from this evening through the weekend.

Drivers are urged to allow for extra travel time, ensure the vehicle has a full gas tank, and carry “plenty” of water, snacks and food.
