Canadian weightlifters Lusignan, Love take bronze at Commonwealth Games
GLASGOW — Canadian weightlifters Xavier Lusignan and Etta Love added a pair of bronze medals to Canada’s tally Thursday at the Commonwealth Games.
Lusignan, of Mansfield, Que., finished third in the men’s 110-kilogram division with lifts of 159 kilograms in the snatch and 197 in the clean and jerk, for a total of 356.
Fiji’s Taniela Tuisuva Rainibogi won gold with a Games-record 378, while England’s Cyrille Tchatchet II took silver with 374.
Love, of Saskatoon, climbed from fourth after the snatch to claim bronze in the women’s 86-kilogram event with a total of 250. She recorded the second-best clean and jerk at 144 kilograms after lifting 106 in the snatch.
