Abbotsford and Mission move to Stage 2 water restrictions
ABBOTSFORD — Despite the recent precipitation, stage 2 water restrictions will take effect in Abbotsford and Mission on July 31 as dry conditions persist and drought conditions are expected to intensify across the province.
In a news release from the City of Abbotsford, residents and businesses are being asked to reduce water use and continue following water-wise practices to help protect local water supplies.
Under the restrictions, lawn watering is prohibited. Existing lawn sprinkling permits will remain valid until they expire, but no new permits will be issued or renewed.
Watering of gardens, trees and shrubs is still permitted using micro or drip irrigation, soaker hoses, hand-held containers or hoses with a spring-loaded shut-off device. Automated sprinklers are also allowed during restricted morning hours.
