25-year-old man sentenced in fatal home invasion shooting in Abbotsford
ABBOTSFORD – A 25-year-old man has been convicted and sentenced in a home invasion killing over four years ago that claimed the life of a 41-year-old man from Abbotsford.
IHIT spokesperson Sgt. Freda Fong says Tanner Fox has been sentenced to 15 years for his role in the fatal shooting of 41-year-old Chad Colivas in March 2022.
On March 21, 2022, at around 9:52 p.m., Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) responded to a home in the 3500 block of Latimer Street for a report of a break and enter and a shooting. Police and paramedics arrived at the home and located a man suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving measures, Colivas died from his injuries.
Colivas was shot when he confronted Tanner Fox, who broke into his residence. Colivas was not armed and the incident was not connected to any gang conflict, Sgt. Fong said.
