Helicopters, dozens of police cars deployed in Maple Ridge investigation
MAPLE RIDGE — Maple Ridge residents may have heard sirens blaring and choppers flying overhead as police conducted an investigation in parts of the city Saturday evening (July 18).
A number of locals took to social media at around 4:30 p.m., reporting at least 25 police cars rushing across the Golden Ears Bridge and a loud boom near 227 Street and 123 Avenue.
Shortly after, roughly three police helicopters were seen circling the area, as well as a large police presence gathered on 227th by 5 p.m.
RCMP issued a statement at 5:23 p.m. saying officers were responding to locations near the Port Haney Wharf and Silver Valley with support from specialized units, including the Emergency Response Team.
