Police attend Chilliwack homeless camp to retrieve stolen E-bike after owner saw it listed online
CHILLIWACK – A spokesperson for the Hope RCMP detachment says police were able to recover a woman’s stolen electronic bike last week after she saw it listed for sale online and its location was pegged to a local homeless encampment.
According to a statement from Upper Fraser Valley RCMP spokesperson Corporal Carmen Kiener, a woman contacted police with information about a previously stolen electronic bike of hers. She saw a similar bike listed for sale on social media and began to suspect the bike was hers based on certain unique features. Police didn’t reveal the name of the online sales site, but it’s possible it was Facebook Marketplace.
Police reviewed the photos of the listing and recognized the surrounding area depicted in the photos as being an encampment in Chilliwack.
Officers attended the encampment whose location was not disclosed and were able to confirm the bike belonged to the woman, recovering the e-bike and returning it to the owner.
