Mission councillor announces run for mayor
MISSION – Mission Councillor Jag Gill announced Wednesday morning that he will run for mayor in the fall municipal election, hoping to replace Mission Mayor Paul Horn who will not be seeking another term.
In a video posted to social media, Gill said residents want a city government that works for them in a number of areas.
“People want a city that works, safe streets, responsible decisions, a livable community, growth that makes sense and is tied to infrastructure, support for local businesses, and a council that is transparent, and stays focused on the issues that people deal with every single day,” Gill said. “I’ve always believed that leadership starts with listening, being accessible, doing the work, leading by example, and making decisions based on what’s best for the community, not politics.”
Reflecting his popularity throughout the city, Gill received the most council votes in the 2018 and 2022 elections.
