Chilliwack River Valley honours volunteers at local appreciation event
CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack River Valley locals have marked National Volunteer Week with their own celebration of the individuals who continue to step up for their community when it needs them most.
Electoral Area E Director Patti MacAhonic hosted the special Volunteer Appreciation Event on Monday, April 20, highlighting the work of those who have held steady as the region faced multiple States of Local Emergency and extreme weather events.
“This valley is unlike anywhere else,” said Director MacAhonic. “Time and again, we see people show up—for each other, for their community, and in moments that truly matter. It is an honour to recognize those who give so much, often quietly and without expectation.”
Chilliwack Search and Rescue were among the 10 individuals and organizations recognized for their efforts, with a previously rescued child and her grandmother attending to help present the award.
