HOPE — Officials say residents remain safe despite an out-of-control wildfire growing 15 times its size since Thursday afternoon.

BC Wildfire Service continues to work with ground crews, helicopters and heavy equipment to tackle the 40-hectare Ferrabee Wildfire, located roughly 2.5 kilometres southeast of Hell’s Gate.

Fire behaviour is ranked at 2, as a low-vigour surface fire with an open flame.

“This fire is burning in steep terrain with some areas being inaccessible to ground crews,” said BC Wildfire in an update Friday. “There is no immediate threat to structures or to public safety.”
