ABBOTSFORD — Officials are seeking public input on a proposed action plan to tackle climate risks and greenhouse gas emissions in Abbotsford.

Nine climate and seven non-climate hazards, such as earthquakes and social disturbances, were identified for the city, with flooding, wildfires and extreme heat worsening heading into 2050.

“As a community, Abbotsford has the opportunity to become more resilient to the impacts of climate change,” said the City. “The City of Abbotsford is committed to doing what it can to protect our community and the environment in the face of increasing risks, which is why we are working on developing a Climate Resilience Strategy.”

Staff have developed proposed “big moves” to strengthen community resilience based on input from the first round of engagement.
