Independent Investigations Office of BC seeks witnesses to Surrey, B.C., shooting
SURREY — British Columbia’s Independent Investigations Office says it’s hoping to hear from witnesses to a police-involved shooting in Metro Vancouver that Surrey police say left a man with minor injuries.
The Surrey Police Service says officers were called to a home on 81 Avenue about a report of a person with a weapon on Sunday night, and the man allegedly confronted police with an “edged weapon” during an attempted arrest.
Police say officers shot the man, and he was treated by paramedics before being taken to the hospital.
The police service says it has notified the Independent Investigations Office of BC, which is tasked with probing cases in which people suffer serious harm or death involving police actions or inactions.
