ABBOTSFORD — There were no injuries after an early evening weapons call that led to a heavy police presence at one neighbourhood on Thursday, says the Abbotsford Police Department.

At around 5:15 p.m., AbbyPD officers responded to the report at a home in the area of Walnut Avenue and enforced a shelter-in-place for residents on Walnut Avenue between Ash Street and Pratt Crescent, as well as Woodbine Street and Woodland Street.

Just over an hour later, police reported that one man had been arrested as a result and was put in police custody.

“Parents may now safely enter the area to pick up their children from the nearby daycare,” wrote AbbyPD. “We appreciate the cooperation and patience of residents in the area during this call.”
