Power restored to most of the 10,000+ customers in Chilliwack who lost electricity

UPDATE: Power has now been restored to most of the 10,000-plus customers who lost power Wednesday night. At one point, over 14,000 customers lost power due to as many as 54 outages.

CHILLIWACK — While BC Hydro crews are working around the clock to restore power to the eastern Fraser Valley, over 10,000 customers are still without power Thursday morning at 7:45 a.m.

According to the latest figures from BC Hydro’s online dashboard, there are 17 outages impacting 10,522 customers in Chilliwack.

There are at three outages in the District of Kent affecting 3,574 customers there, and additional outages in the outerlying areas affecting hundreds more.

Harrison Hot Springs has one outage but it’s impacting the majority of the small village as 1,728 customers remain without power as of 7:45 a.m. Thursday morning.

Hope got walloped by the fierce windstorm equally. It has 14 outages and 4,533 customers affected.

Abbotsford avoided the brunt of the storm. It only has four outages with 21 customers impacted as of Thursday morning.
