ABBOTSFORD — The City of Abbotsford is partnering with the Abbotsford Community Foundation and the Vancouver Foundation to provide funding for resident-led initiatives through a  Neighbourhood Small Grants program.

The program makes $17 thousand available to fund small projects that will lead to bringing neighbours together and strengthening a sense of belonging. Individual grants of up to $500 will be awarded to projects that include creative and meaningful activities to build connections within the community.

To be eligible for a grant, a project may include activities such as block parties, multicultural celebrations, workshops and even sports events. Gardening projects, park cleanups, art installations and other beautification efforts will also be supported. In addition, funds will be made available to support safety-related projects such as block watch programs and graffiti cleanup. All projects must be held locally, be inclusive and free to attend.

In the past, grants have supported a wide variety of projects, including arts and crafts sessions, fitness workshops, seniors gatherings and the creation of care packages for vulnerable women and children visiting Abbotsford Regional Hospital.
