Deadline nearing for Fraser Valley residents to apply for disaster relief funding following December flood
CHILLIWACK — The Fraser Valley Regional District (FVRD) has sent out a reminder to property owners impacted by December’s flooding that the deadline for Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) is approaching. Residents have until April 13 to submit applications for assistance.
The FVRD says financial assistance is available to support residents in recovering from the damage caused by the flooding, in situations where insurance was not available to cover losses.
The DFA is a provincial program developed to assist those who were unable to obtain insurance coverage for disaster related losses. Homeowners, farmers, small businesses and non-profits are eligible for the funds.
FVRD staff are available to help residents to complete their applications. Residents who think they may be eligible for funds are encouraged to reach out to the FVRD by calling 778 704-0400 or by email at disaster.recovery@fvrd.ca.
