Fraser Valley communities break daily temperature records Thursday

FRASER VALLEY — A number of B.C. communities sweat out some new daily high records this week, including in the Fraser Valley.

Agassiz reported 16.1 C on Thursday (Feb. 6), more than two degrees warmer than its 1984 record of 14 C.

Abbotsford was also up by 1.3 C from its previous daily high in 1984 at 16.4 degrees.

The Hope area hit a marginal record of 12.8 C, beating its 1941 numbers of 12.1 C.

Pitt Meadows matched its 1941 temperature of 14.4.

A total of 17 communities saw temperatures matched or broken due to a high-pressure ridge moving over the B.C. coast, according to Environment Canada. Other record-setters ranged from Squamish and Sparwood to Prince George and Bella Coola.
