AGASSIZ – The District of Kent is welcoming comments from the public for a proposed cannabis store on Lougheed Highway, near the turnoff for Harrison Hot Springs.

According to a public notice posted on the district’s website, the provincial Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch has referred an application for a cannabis retail store license to the district for comment.

The proposed store would be located at 3-6446 Lougheed Highway, across from the Canco gas station at Highway 7 and Highway 9/Hot Springs Road.

The location is currently a vacant lot of land valued at $2,250,000. A house once occupied the parcel, according to BC Assessment records. The land has not sold in the past three years.

The proposed hours of operation would be 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week.

The District of Kent says it welcomes comments from both residents and property owners concerning the proposed retail cannabis store. All comments need to be received by 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17.

Written comments can be submitted by emailing planning@kentbc.ca; in person at Municipal Hall, 7170 Cheam Avenue in Agassiz (dropbox available); or by mail to the manager of planning, District of Kent, P.O. Box 70, Agassiz, BC, V0M 1A0.

All written submissions will be provided to District of Kent Council for their consideration before making a recommendation to the Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch.
