Chilliwack RCMP seek identity of alleged female fraud suspect

CHILLIWACK – Mounties in Chilliwack need help identifying a female fraud suspect in connection with an investigation into identity document theft and fraudulent transactions.

According to a statement from Corporal Berthier Kyobela, Chilliwack RCMP members responded to a report on January 9, 2026 about stolen identity documents and transactions valued at several thousands of dollars. The investigation has linked a female suspect to similar alleged offences in several other jurisdictions across British Columbia.

Police say the female suspect is described as Caucasian, approximately 6 feet tall, with dark brown hair, and is believed to be 30 to 40 years old.

Police are asking the public that if they recognize the female fraud suspect, or believe you may be a victim of identity theft, to contact the Chilliwack RCMP at 604‑792‑4611 and reference file 2026‑1063. If you wish to remain anonymous, you may contact Crime Stoppers at 1‑800‑222‑8477.

“Police believe that the suspect is in possession of multiple stolen identity documents and that some victims may be unaware their information has been compromised. We encourage the public to routinely monitor their credit score, which will list accounts and loans opened in their name, and to report any discrepancies,” Cpl. Kyobela said.

Police would like to remind the public to safeguard their personal and financial information.

“If you receive calls from collection agencies about unfamiliar accounts, or if you applied for credit and were unexpectedly turned down, you are encouraged to contact the two national credit bureaus and place a fraud alert on your credit reports,” Corporal Kyobela said.

People who have been impacted should also report identity theft and fraud to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre toll free at 1-888-495-8501, or online at https://antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca/index-eng.htm.
