Youth suffers serious injuries

Youth assaulted, hospitalized with serious injuries: Langley RCMP

LANGLEY — Mounties in Langley say a youth was the victim of an apparent assault with a weapon Saturday afternoon at the Willowbrook Mall in Langley.

According to a statement from Langley RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Zynal Sharoom, police were called to Willowbrook Mall, 19705 Fraser Highway, at about 4:31 p.m. Saturday for the report of an alleged robbery.

Police say emergency crews responded to the area and located a youth victim who appeared to have been assaulted with a weapon. The youth was promptly transported to a local area hospital with serious injuries.

“Officers responded quickly to ensure the safety of everyone in the area,” said Sergeant Zynal Sharoom of the Langley RCMP. “At this time, there is no ongoing risk to the public as this incident appears to be targeted.”

The Langley Advance-Times reported that there were at least six police vehicles parked near the entrance to Willowbrook Mall after the alleged robbery.
