33-year-old Surrey man jailed for 5 years for sexual interference with a youth, possession of child porn: RCMP
SURREY — A 33-year-old Surrey man has been sentenced to five years in jail for sexual interference, possession of child porn and breaking a probation order.
According to a statement from RCMP Constable Maury Tyre, who works as a school and media liaison at the Campbell River RCMP detachment, Dillon Caleb Partanen pleaded guilty on Tuesday, January 13 to sexual interference, possession of child sexual exploitation and abuse material (as it is now called instead of child porn), and failing to comply with a probation order.
Cst. Tyre says the sentence was handed out as a result of a disturbing incident that occurred in Campbell River in April 2024 involving a youth. As part of his sentence, Partanen was also ordered to provide his DNA and register with the National Sex Offender Registry. Partanen’s name will remain in the registry for the rest of his life.
Sometime in 2023, Partanen began engaging with a youth on Snapchat. In April of 2024, Partanen travelled to Campbell River where he met the youth and committed the offences. Police were alerted to the incident the day it happened, and Partanen was subsequently arrested in Campbell River and released with conditions that he not visit or reside in Campbell River while he awaited the court process.
