LOGAN LAKE — B.C. conservation officers are investigating after a doe mule deer was shot and killed in a residential area of Logan Lake a few days before Christmas.

Conservation Officer Tyler Kerr told CFJC Today the incident happened on Sunday, Dec. 21 in the vicinity of Amber Drive.

“We’re reaching out to the public for any information including security camera footage or anything of that nature, any information at all, that might help us in our investigation,” Kerr said, noting the BCCOS is not releasing other details about the incident at this time.

Kerr added the penalties for hunting or unlawfully killing wildlife could range from fines to legal proceedings, depending on the nature and severity of the incident.

“There’s lots of deer around in town this time of the year and some people can view them as pests while others view them as wonderful wildlife that we have in the province,” Kerr said. “Obviously hunting or shooting within town limits goes against the law and we will investigate if we do get complaints of this nature.”

People with information or video of the incident in Logan Lake are being asked to contact the BC Conservation Officer Service’s RAPP line at 1-877-952-7277 or online here.
