1 confirmed dead after targeted shooting in Abbotsford Friday afternoon

ABBOTSFORD —  Abbotsford police have now confirmed a homicide as a result of the targeted shooting this afternoon (Jan. 9).

Officers with the Abbotsford Police Department were paged out to a home in the 3200 block of Siskin Drive due to a targeted shooting at around 12:38 p.m.

Police then found a man with life-threatening injuries inside the residence, but despite urgent lifesaving efforts by first responders, the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

AbbyPD confirms the shooting is related to the B.C. gang conflict and not extortion.

There is no further risk to the public.

The investigation has been transferred to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT).

Siskin Drive between Sandpiper Drive and Stellar Court was closed as the investigation went underway.
