Chilliwack councillors to vote on form and character of new furniture store
CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack city councillors are set to vote on the form and character of a new furniture store on Luckakuck Way at their meeting this week.
According to item 7.6 on this Tuesday’s council meeting agenda, applicant J. Floris Construction Ltd. is seeking council approval for the issuance of a development permit, subject to the recommendations of the Design Review Advisory Committee and the conditions as stipulated within the draft development permit.
Senior planner Stacy Johnson wrote in her city staff report dated Dec. 18, 2025 that the proposal includes a new 3-unit commercial building featuring a purpose-built space for La-Z-Boy within approximately 13,072m² and two “non-restaurant” commercial units of approximately 169m² and 150m² fronting Luckakuck Way. The proposed development would contain 43 off-street parking stalls, two loading stalls, four bike parking stalls and 18 trees.
As Fraser Valley Today previously reported, the Mandarin Garden Buffet was demolished in mid-October 2025 after 27 years in business. A photo taken Friday, October 17 showed local demolition company Lindsay Ventures on-site at the lot.
