MISSION — Over 120 trained personnel from across the Fraser Valley and B.C.’s Lower Mainland have joined forces to search for a missing 62-year-old whose vehicle was located on a logging road north of Mission.

The Ridge Meadows RCMP detachment, which serves Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows and Katzie First Nation, reported last week that they were appealing to the public for help in locating Timothy Eyolfson, a 62-year-old man whose vehicle was found near Florence and Sayers Lake in Mission. Police said the last contact with Eyolfson was on Sunday, Dec. 14. Eyolfson is described as 5-foot-10 and approximately 235 pounds. He has grey hair and hazel eyes.

On Tuesday, December 23, Mission Search & Rescue was called out by Mission RCMP to search for Mr. Eyolfson up Florence Lake Service Road.

Mission SAR said this request resulted in three operational periods with mutual aid from neighbouring teams across the Fraser Valley and the Lower Mainland.

Mission SAR said a total of 82 mutual aid members from Central Fraser Valley Search, Ridge Meadows Search and Rescue, Coquitlam Search and Rescue, Kent Harrison Search and Rescue, South Fraser Search and Rescue, Hope Search and Rescue and Civil Air Search and Rescue responded.

In addition to Mission SAR members themselves, roughly 125 searchers and two search dogs contributed to the search efforts over a span of three days.

“A huge thank you to all those members who have committed to helping MSAR during this search,” Mission SAR wrote online. “Your dedication and commitment to serving our community is appreciated.”
