ABBOTSFORD — Following December’s major flooding through Sumas Prairie, a pair of community-based organizations are working together to ring in the New Year. Castle Fun Park and the Abbotsford Canucks are leading a community celebration and food drive. The New Year’s Eve party and food drive will support Archway Community Services.

The party will run from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Castle Fun Park along Highway 1. The event promises a combination of entertainment and hockey-themed activities. Organizers say it’s a celebration of resilience following recent flooding.

While recent high water levels posed a threat, flood-prevention upgrades completed in 2021 were successful in protecting the park, allowing it to reopen to the public on Boxing Day.

Those attending the party are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to support Archway Community Services. Those attending will have a chance to win a family pack of four Abbotsford Canucks game tickets along with a $100 Castle Fun Park playcard as well as a separate $100 playcard.
