Search underway for Burnaby teen accused in shooting

BURNABY — A manhunt is underway for a Burnaby teenager who allegedly shot a man in Burnaby in what police are describing as a targeted event.

The BC Prosecution Service approved charges against 18-year-old Ronin Tajali on Christmas Day. Tajali is facing charges of discharging a firearm with intent, aggravated assault and possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm.

Police allege Tajali shot the victim shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Friday, December 19 in the area of Phillips Avenue and Woodbrook Place in North Burnaby. When RCMP officers arrived, they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to hospital.

Burnaby RCMP’s Investigative Support Team (IST) is leading the investigation with the assistance of General Duty, Forensic Identification Services, Prolific Offender Suppression Team, Strike Force, Drugs and Organized Crime Section and additional specialized plainclothes units.

Tajali is described as 5’ 6” tall and 150 lbs. He has green eyes and short black hair. If you are aware of his whereabouts, you are asked to call 911 immediately. RCMP are advising the public not to approach him.
