SURREY — Police in Surrey now say that a person who allegedly grabbed the buttocks of a 10-year-old girl in Surrey two months ago has been identified, but the suspect’s identity isn’t being released due to his underage status.

According to a statement from Surrey Police Service Sergeant Tige Pollock, the person who was the subject of a public appeal about an alleged sexual assault that happened on Sept. 17, 2025 has been identified and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Investigators have reason to believe the suspect is a young person and have asked that news media remove any images from their websites and social media and to not publish the photo any further.

Fraser Valley Today is honouring that request.

“SPS would like to thank the public for their assistance,” police said in a statement.

Police had previously reported that on September 17, at around 7:15 p.m., the 10-year-old victim was in a business in the 7100 block of 138 Street when an adult man came up to her, grabbed her buttocks and ran away. However, police now suspect the offender is a youth, not an adult.

Frontline members with the Surrey Police Service (SPS) were paged out to the scene at around 8 p.m., and the SPS Special Investigation Section took charge of the investigation.
