City of Abbotsford warns people not to put propane tanks in curbside bins
ABBOTSFORD — It’s not rocket science for most people, but the City of Abbotsford has issued a reminder asking the community not to place propane tanks in curbside bins.
The city wrote in a social media post that two propane tanks were recently located in a compost cart and made it through an industrial shredder at Pacific Coast Renewables.
The city says the situation could have resulted in equipment damage and bodily harm.
As a friendly reminder, only green waste belongs in compost carts. Propane tanks, which constitute hazardous waste, must be taken to a recycling depot.
