Abbotsford honours two residents with 2025 civic awards
ABBOTSFORD — The City of Abbotsford has recognized two of its residents for their achievements and dedication to the community.
This year’s Community Champion Achievement awardees are John LeBlanc and Harry Schmidt.
“John’s courage and compassion in the face of adversity and Harry’s lifetime of service and generosity exemplify what it means to be community champions,” said Ross Siemens, mayor of Abbotsford. “Their selflessness, leadership and humanity remind us of the profound impact one person can have on the world around them.”
LeBlanc is being recognized for his efforts during the nine-month search for lost hiker Jordan Naterer at Manning Park in 2021, while Schmidt has posthumously received the award for his lifetime of service, ranging from building affordable senior housing to fundraising for children in need.
