New wildfire sparks northeast of Hope Thursday evening

YALE — Despite cooling temperatures, a new wildfire has started in the Coquihalla Canyon early Thursday evening (Oct. 16).

At around 6:40 p.m., the BC Wildfire Service reported the out-of-control fire in Hidden Creek, roughly 22 kilometres east of Yale and 32 kilometres northeast of Hope.

The fire has been assessed at 60 hectares at the time of writing.
