AGASSIZ — The Agassiz-Harrison Museum is celebrating a milestone event with the completion of a key upgrade that will make the facility more welcoming to those with accessibility issues.

The installation of a new front door is making it easier for visitors of all abilities to enter and exit the museum.

In a news release, the museum states its staff have reported many issues with the entrance in the past. It says the old door had a raised threshold, challenging door handles and needed a good shove to open. The entrance was especially difficult for seniors and those with mobility aids.

“Making the front entrance of the Museum accessible is integral to attaining full community participation in the creation and sharing of our collective history,” says Museum Manager, Maria Martins.
