CHILLIWACK — The Chilliwack Chiefs lost both of their weekend games, falling 6 – 1 in Coquitlam Friday evening and then 5 – 3 against Trail on home ice Saturday.

Nico Grabas had the Chiefs’ lone goal in Coquitlam, as the Express outshot Chilliwack 38 to 29.

Grabas also scored Saturday against Trail. Grabas picked up an assist on Maximilian Brunner’s first goal of the season in the contest. Dustin Renas also scored for the Chiefs.

Newcomer Easton Schlender made his debut with the Chiefs Saturday. However his game ended after just 34 seconds. The 6’0” 185 lb winger was assessed a five-minute major for checking from behind and an automatic game misconduct.

The Chiefs say the 2007-born forward played last season with the Miramichi Timberwolves of the Maritime Junior Hockey League (MJAHL), appearing in 44 games and recording 10 goals and 6 assists.

“Easton came into town and quickly proved he deserves a spot on our roster. He brings a valuable combination of size, grit, and determination that will give our lineup a real boost,” said Chiefs Head Coach and GM Brian Maloney.

The Chiefs will look to improve on their 1 – 3 record next weekend with a pair of games in Prince George. Their lone victory of the season came September 19 at the Chilliwack Coliseum when they beat Prince George 6 – 2.
