Volunteers invited to help clean up the Chilliwack River Valley – with free lunch, refreshments

CHILLIWACK — Volunteers from Chilliwack and the Fraser Valley are invited to team up with like-minded stewards for the annual B.C. Rivers Day Celebration and River Cleanup in Chilliwack later this month.

The event happens Sunday, Sept. 28 starting at 8:30 a.m. at Thompson Regional Park, 48600 Chilliwack Lake Road.

On-site registration starts at 8:30 a.m., followed by the cleanup from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

People who pre-register for the event are eligible for an extra raffle ticket. You can complete your waiver ahead of time at cleanrivers.ca/upcoming-cleanups#individualsignup.

Morning coffee and goodies are available courtesy of the Sardis McDonald’s on Luckakuck Way. Please bring a reusable mug.

Fresh water will be available thanks to the Chilliwack Water Store. As a friendly reminder, please bring your water bottle.

After the cleanup, enjoy a free BBQ lunch provided by the Chilliwacm Dogwood Monarchs Club. The lunch starts at 12:30 p.m.
