UPDATE: Surrey police ID man in alleged sexual assault
UPDATE: Surrey police now say that the man who was the subject of a public appeal into an alleged sexual assault has been identified by police. Police say the investigation is ongoing and active, and are thanking the public for their assistance.

SURREY — Police in Surrey are asking for witnesses to come forward after a woman alleges she was sexually assaulted by a man early Tuesday morning on King George Boulevard.
According to a statement from Sergeant Tige Pollock, media relations officer for the Surrey Police Service, a female victim says she was heading on foot toward a bus stop Tuesday morning, August 26 at approximately 3:10 a.m. During the time that she was walking along the sidewalk, she was approached by a man who asked to use her phone. When she victim refused, the suspect pushed her into a nearby bush and then allegedly sexually assaulted her. The victim, who suffered minor injuries, fought off the suspect while he fled northbound.
