CHILLIWACK — Several incidents of crime and suspicious activity throughout Chilliwack were reported on social media earlier this week, including two stolen cars, multiple vehicle break-ins and attempted thefts from cars.

Many of the reported incidents occurred within Sardis while a vehicle was reported stolen from a neighbourhood close to Young Road and Lewis Avenue.

In Sardis, an individual sporting a hoodie entered a driveway near Canterbury/Cumberland, located between Keith Wilson Road and Watson Road, and tried to access two pickup trucks at approximately 1:45 a.m. early Monday morning, August 18. The alleged thief was able to access an unlocked vehicle and didn’t steal anything, but did go through the glove box and placed objects on the vehicle’s seat.

“He was checking all the vehicles in our area,” the resident said.

Approximately 15 minutes later, not far from the Canterbury Avenue location, a masked man approached two vehicles parked in front of a Sardis home at approximately 1:59 a.m. It’s not clear if the masked individual succeeded in stealing anything.

Around the same time early Monday morning, two men wearing backpacks were seen riding through the River’s Edge neighbourhood, located south of Keith Wilson Road.

Over in the Webster Landing neighbourhood south of Keith Wilson Road, and east of Webster Road, a resident reported that her family’s Ford SUV was stolen out of their driveway at 3:03 a.m. Monday morning (Aug. 18).

“Police report has been submitted and they are searching for the car, but there was two men involved by the looks of video surveillance,” the resident wrote. “Please check your cars this morning and if anyone has any videos that would be greatly appreciated for the police file (25-34910).”

On top of that, the Webster Landing resident said there were four neighbours of hers whose vehicles were broken into.

Over on the north side of Chilliwack, a resident reported in Chilliwack Beware Crime and Safety that a 2025 Honda CR-V Touring hybrid SUV was stolen from St. David Street early in the morning on August 18.
