Popular Chilliwack restaurant to relocate this week

CHILLIWACK — Pho Galaxy, a popular Chilliwack restaurant two blocks from Chilliwack General Hospital, could relocate to a more spacious retail setting as soon as this weekend.

Owner Al Trieu tells Fraser Valley Today that he hopes to open at its new location this coming weekend on Saturday, August 23 in the former Younie’s Family Restaurant at 60-45905 Yale Road, in the Southgate shopping centre anchored by Shoppers Drug Mart.

The move to the new space is intended to give Pho Galaxy more interior space, more dining tables and additional storage for supplies and materials, as well as more parking spaces in a larger shopping centre, Trieu said.

During lunch and dinner hours at its current location next to a Korean fried chicken restaurant, it’s not uncommon for Pho Galaxy to be completely full, especially during the cold winter months when hot noodle soup is akin to comfort food.

The interior dining space at the new venue can accommodate up to 80 customers, and an additional 20 patrons on the outdoor patio area, Trieu said.

Municipal permitting approval of the new location took several months, Trieu told Fraser Valley Today.

In addition to an extensive lineup of noodle soups, Pho Galaxy also offers grilled lemongrass pork and chicken, bánh mì sandwiches, spring rolls and Vietnamese coffee. It is a popular take-out destination given its close proximity to Chilliwack General Hospital and the hundreds of Fraser Health employees who work there.
