Chilliwack home sales show signs of momentum after weak start to 2025: CADREB president
CHILLIWACK — The president of the Chilliwack and District Real Estate Board says home sales are showing some signs of rebounding after a weak start to 2025.
According to a news release from CADREB, 211 homes changed hands in July 2025, a drop of 9.4 per cent from July 2024. As a whole, home sales were 4.5 per cent below the 5-year average.
On a year-to-date basis, home sales totaled 1,462 units over the first seven months of the year, a sharp drop of 15.7% from the same period in 2024.
“Sales activity plunged on a monthly basis in the first half of the year as fallout from the tariff chaos took hold, but it seems that the housing market has shaken that off and is coming back to life,” said Emily Vernon, president of the Chilliwack and District Real Estate Board. “The past two months have marked a significant reversal in momentum. Although sales are still trending just below their average levels for this time of year, we’re no longer looking at the double-digit declines we saw in the first five months of 2025. An accompanying decline in new supply has supported a strengthening of the market balance, which no longer sits in buyer’s territory.”
