Man charged in Fraser Valley sexual assault

FRASER VALLEY — A 58-year-old man has been charged with sexual assault in an incident outside two stores in the Fraser Valley earlier this month.

According to a statement from Surrey Police Service, Abdulkarim Ahmad Alhamid, a 58-year-old male, has been arrested and one charge of sexual assault approved by the BC Prosecution Service. Alhamid is currently remanded in custody.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward due to the alleged sexual assault that happened on Tuesday, August 5, outside the Tim Horton’s located at 8080 120 Street, and the Salvation Army Thrift Store, located at 8066 120 Street in Surrey.

SPS’s Special Investigation Unit has taken over the investigation and is now appealing to the public for any witnesses or those who may have CCTV and/or dashcam footage to come forward in the hopes of advancing their investigation.
