SUV driver dies after crash involving flat deck truck, the 3rd fatality in 8 days: Langley RCMP

LANGLEY — Mounties in Langley are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision involving an SUV and a flat deck truck that happened Monday morning on 56 Avenue.

According to a statement from Langley RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Zynal Sharoom, Mounties responded to a report of a vehicle collision on Monday morning, Aug. 11 at approximately 8:25 a.m. in the 20600 block of 56 Avenue in Langley.

Responding officers arrived in the area and determined that a sports utility vehicle and a commercial flat deck truck were involved.

“Sadly, the driver of the SUV sustained catastrophic injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene,” said Sgt. Sharoom. “Several witnesses along with the driver of the flat deck truck remained on scene and are fully cooperating with the investigation.”

Sgt. Sharoom says the investigation into this fatal incident remains ongoing.

“Unfortunately, this is the third fatal motor vehicle collision that has occurred in Langley within the past 8 days; therefore, we are urging all motorists to adhere to the rules of the road and remain vigilant during their travels,” Sgt. Sharoom said.
