Crews respond to house fire in Chilliwack Saturday afternoon

CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack firefighters have tackled a house blaze in the Sardis area on Saturday afternoon (July 26).

At around 4 p.m., the Chilliwack Fire Department were called out to a report of a residential structure fire in the 44000 block of Sherry Drive. Twenty-two firefighters from Halls 1 and 4 responded to the scene and found smoke coming from the roof.

“Fire crews quickly deployed an interior attack while securing a water supply,” said the Fire Department. “The fire was contained to the floor of origin, with the rest of the home suffering smoke damage.”

BCEHS examined one person for smoke inhalation. There were no firefighter injuries reported.

Chilliwack Fire is now investigating the cause of the blaze.
