Fundraiser launched for Mission family who lost home in morning fire
MISSION — A family is now appealing for the community’s support after an early morning fire destroyed their home in Mission earlier this week.
On Tuesday (July 15), around 3:30 a.m., fire crews were paged out to the Fernandes family’s burning home on Catchpole Avenue, which had spread to a neighbouring residence. Ten people were displaced between the two houses.
Kaile Dhaliwal, a family friend of the Fernandes, then organized an online fundraiser that same afternoon.
“We’re reaching out with heavy hearts to ask for your support during an incredibly difficult time for our family,” wrote Dhaliwal. “Thankfully, everyone made it out safely, but the loss is overwhelming—years of memories, necessities, and treasured belongings were gone in moments.”
