HARRISON — Firefighters are now working to contain an out-of-control blaze in the Harrison area that sparked late Saturday evening (July 19).

Locally based Harrison Adventure RVing shared a post about the fire at 1:49 a.m. Sunday (July 20), stating that it had started from an ATV accident in Cogburn Creek.

Footage from the scene shows a blaze trailing along Harrison East FSR.

The business added that medical services were provided to at least one victim, and fire crews were on the ground overnight.

At the time of writing, the BC Wildfire Service has listed the fire at two hectares. Two helicopters and 25 firefighters have been assigned to the blaze.

Residents and campers reported evacuating at around 1:30 a.m., but BCWS states that there are currently no evacuation orders in effect, and the Forest Service Road remains open.

“We ask residents to avoid the area if possible as this is an active work site and there are responders and aviation resources working in the vicinity,” wrote the Wildfire Service.
