Fresh, local Chilliwack corn available to the public starting this week

CHILLIWACK — One of Chilliwack’s most recognized corn brands is launching its 27th season this week.

The Sparkes Corn Barn posted on social media over the weekend that the wait for famous Chilliwack corn is over.

“The time has finally come! Season 27 starts Monday! Monday, we are going to pick a load to train our staff and check the maturity,” Sparkes wrote on Facebook.

Its Luckakuck Way and Agassiz corn barns will be open until sold out.

Starting Tuesday, July 15, Sparkes expects to have all of its drive-through corn barns open.

Joiners Corn, another popular Chilliwack brand, announced on Facebook Monday that its corn barns would open this week as well. Its Chilliwack locations include Re/Max at 7301 Vedder Road (has a debit machine), Elements Casino, Vedder Elementary, Broadway Motors (opens at 8:30 a.m., debit), Yarrow Mennonite Brethren Church (opens at 11 a.m.), and M&H Machinery on Airport Road.
